The Mountain Bike Coordination Austria is responsible for process coordination in developing a nationwide mountain bike strategy in Austria. It manages stakeholder dialogue and ensures that actionable recommendations are developed.
The Mountain Bike Coordination is implemented by KONNEKT GmbH. The contract was awarded through the Federal Procurement Agency and is supported by the following partners:
- Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media, and Sports (BMWKMS)
- Federal Ministry for Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management (BMLUK)
- Federal Ministry for Economy, Energy, and Tourism (BMWET)
- Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility, and Infrastructure (BMIMI)
- The federal states
The goal of the Mountain Bike Coordination is to bring together different perspectives — sports, tourism, forestry, nature and environmental protection, politics, and business. From this, actionable recommendations are developed to serve as guidance for future decisions.
All work is carried out based on the existing legal framework. The Mountain Bike Coordination does not create new laws but develops recommendations within this framework.
The mandate is planned for several years. The first results, in the form of actionable recommendations, will be available in 2026. Pilot regions, monitoring, and a final evaluation are scheduled until 2030.
Stakeholders are involved through working groups and dialogue formats.
