The Country-Led Initiative on Advancing Sustainable Forest-based Bioeconomy Approaches will be convened as Global Summit

Within the COLI process, which encompasses different activities to support the work of UNFF and FAO, Austria hosted a Country-Led Initiative on Advancing Sustainable Forest-based Bioeconomy Approaches (CLI-ASFBA) in Vienna in February 2026. The CLI-ASFBA focused on issues related to sustainable forest-based bioeconomy approaches, such as scaling upfinancing, supply chains, agroforestry and wood buildings. The results from COLI activities informed the Global Summit, whose outcomes will be presented at UNFF21 and FAO’s 28th Committee on Forestry session.

The COLI process was accompanied by two activities that provided background material for discussions at the Global Summit on "Advancing Sustainable Forest-based Bioeconomy Approaches." The FAO organized a global webinar series addressing the six themes of the summit, with the results summarized in the "Summary of Findings." Another element were the scientific contributions and Policy Briefs prepared by IUFRO, which are included in the "Expanded Policy Brief."
