Higher Federal Teaching and Research Institute Francisco Josephinum
The modern research facility at the HBLFA Francisco Josephinum in Wieselburg comprises three specialized departments: Agricultural Engineering, Biomass, and Food and Biotechnology. Through the teaching activities of the researchers, current topics in agriculture, agricultural technology, digitalization, and food technology are directly integrated into both education and practical application.
The multidisciplinary team at BLTand Josephinum Research focuses primarily on new technologies in precision and smart farming as well as digitalization. Comprehensive measurement technology in the lab and field, combined with long-standing experience in experimental methods, ensures optimal testing conditions.
The Biomass department concentrates on research in the field of renewable raw materials and renewable energy. The potential and applications of these resources are at the center of the research team’s work.
The Food Technology researchers focus on developing innovative food products, optimizing processing methods, and testing new technologies as well as raw and auxiliary materials.
Through the semi-independent institution Josephinum Research, research funded by third-party sources is also conducted. This research activity has provided the foundation for offering a Bachelor’s program in Agricultural Technology in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt.
