With its Research and Services division, the Higher Federal Teaching and Research Institute Tyrol (HBLFA Tyrol) serves as a competence center for strengthening agriculture and dairy farming in the Alpine region. The institute acts as a point of contact for all matters related to milk processing, from the raw milk to the finished product.
The tasks of HBLFA Tyrol include, among others, product development and contract research: new dairy products are developed upon customer request, and practice-oriented research projects are conducted. Product development is supported by analytical monitoring. The facilities allow production ranging from small-scale trials to practice-equivalent large-scale production.
Analysis of milk and dairy products is also part of the agenda. The chemical and microbiological laboratories in Rotholz offer a wide range of chemical and microbiological parameters. HBLFA Tyrol – Research and Services serves as a control center for AMA quality seal testing. Additionally, the institute provides dairy-related education and training, prepares expert reports, and offers consulting services to dairy-processing companies.
