Barrier-free access to official buildings
The buildings of the Ministry are to be accessible for everybody. Therefore, measures to achieve barrier-free access according to the Federal Law on Equal Opportunities for Disabled Persons (“Bundesbehindertengleichstellungsgesetz”, BGStG) have been taken.
At the locations of the central management unit of the Federal Ministry

- 1010 Vienna, Stubenring 12
- 1010 Vienna, Stubenbastei 5
- 1020 Vienna, Ferdinandstraße 4
- 1020 Wien, Untere Donaustraße 11
- 1030 Vienna, Marxergasse 2
To improve accessibility, additional measures were implemented in 2025.
Location Stubenring 12, 1010 Vienna:
- Two foldable and collapsible wheelchair ramps including side protection (240x73 centimetre) were procured.
- Installation of information signs at the exterior doorbells at the main entrance (wheelchair symbol + please ring + barrier-free entrance Biberstraße 14, with arrow).
Accessibility in the service offices
At the locations of the service offices of the Federal Ministry, consideration is given as far as possible to barrier-free access in the course of the planned and to be carried out new construction, conversion, and renovation works.
In the area of schools, there were two structural measures:
- At the HBLA Pitzelstätten, a no longer used indoor swimming pool in the basement of the East school building was converted into a barrier-free scientific center (including a chemistry laboratory and a physics classroom).
- At the University College for Agrarian and Environmental Pedagogy (HAUP), a new barrier-free building with one seminar room and several office rooms was constructed.
