The right shopping starts at home. Well-planned purchases not only help avoid food waste, but also save a lot of time and money in the supermarket.

We often buy more than we actually need. We cook too much and too often fail to use leftovers. Food spoils due to improper storage, or we throw it away because the best-before date has passed. This leads to unnecessary food waste, which we can reduce easily and, above all, sustainably.

The right shopping starts at home. Only those who first get an overview at home know which products and quantities need to be purchased. Well-planned shopping not only helps avoid food waste from the outset, but also saves a lot of time in the supermarket.

Three simple steps for the right shopping:

  • Get an overview with a few questions: What is missing at home? What still needs to be used up? What is planned for this week?
  • A shopping list works wonders! It records what is actually needed so you can shop accordingly.
  • Stay consistent! The biggest challenge in stores is resisting the wide range of products.

If we stick to the shopping list, we automatically buy the right quantities and products. Special offers, multipack discounts, or promotions are of course tempting—but with the questions from step 1 in mind, it is easy to avoid impulse purchases.
