Since June 2024, the RESY Dashboard has supported evidence-based governance and sustainable development in Austria’s regions. Regional stakeholders use the dashboard to access and analyze selected indicators and other publicly available data, and to derive measures for the further development of their region.

Analysis at the Push of a Button

The first step to successfully initiating and implementing projects in Austria’s regions is a detailed analysis of the current situation. Gathering, retrieving, and managing data from various sources often involves considerable effort. With the launch of the RESY Dashboard, it has become possible to provide data on 30 indicators across five thematic areas—economy, demography, tourism, infrastructure and mobility, energy, and environment—for around 600 regions and all 2,092 municipalities in a single digital platform. This gives stakeholders in Austria’s regions the ability to access data and facts at the push of a button for future-oriented work, cross-sectoral planning, and targeted exchange on sustainable solutions.

RESY Dashboard in Use: Positive Feedback and Practical Application

User feedback on the RESY Dashboard has been predominantly positive. The tool is widely used and considered practical and relevant. This was confirmed by an online survey conducted during a conference of climate and energy model region managers in Schwaz (Tyrol) in May 2025. The majority of participants reported using the RESY Dashboard several times a year for their work. It is especially used for preparing reports, concepts, and strategies, as well as for organizing information and supporting arguments in regional decision-making processes.

How has RESY developed since its launch until early 2026?

The RESY Dashboard was launched in June 2024 by the BMLUK and BMWET. Since then, the following features have been added or updated:

  • Region Composition Feature: Users can now see which municipalities make up the selected regions.

  • Video Tutorials: Two video tutorials introducing the use of the RESY Dashboard have been integrated into the FAQs.

  • Tourism Regions: These replace the previously integrated destination management areas in the RESY Dashboard. The compilation is now based on regions defined by the federal states, ensuring reliable data.

  • Simplified Municipality Search: From mid-January 2026, all municipalities can be found directly by entering the municipality name.

  • Data Updates: Region compositions and indicators continue to be updated annually, as long as data is available.

The continuous development of the RESY Dashboard aims to promote high-quality and future-oriented use of data in the regions. In 2026, the existing indicators related to regional public services will be reviewed for relevance and completeness as part of a BMLUK project and, if necessary, revised and supplemented.
