The popular youth water platform “Generation Blue” is now launching under the new name “gen blue.” The aim is not only to provide knowledge about water, but also to inspire a deep enthusiasm for preserving our valuable resources. The new, colorful design worlds across gen blue’s online channels are intended to support this mission.

A Fresh Breeze for Youth

Colorful logo designs

The relaunch of gen blue means more than just a new logo and design – it represents a significant step in conveying the platform’s messages in a way that appeals to young people, whether at school or in their free time. The new design and user-friendly structure of the website are specifically aimed at reaching a digitally savvy and discerning youth audience. The platform focuses on raising awareness about water as a resource among young people aged 13 to 19, as well as schools.

A particularly important aspect for gen blue is its presence on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, in order to engage with young people and reach them directly. For all matters relating to the planning and implementation of projects through gen blue, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management works closely with the communications agency bettertogether and ovos media.

Der Spirit von gen blue: Wasser geht uns alle an

“Water Concerns Us All” – this motto has accompanied gen blue since its founding in 2007 and remains the central guiding principle even after the relaunch. Gen blue sees itself as a community that brings young people closer to the importance of water for the environment and society, equips them with essential knowledge, and encourages their commitment to water protection. The platform offers the community new, sustainable giveaways such as gen blue caps, drawstring bags, towels, and festival wristbands, which are raffled at various events.

Even after the relaunch, gen blue stays true to its tradition, continuing to support established projects like Danube Day, the Danube Art Master, and the large school competition “Trinkpass”. A special highlight in the current program are the new school workshops “Water and Climate: Our Responsibility, Our Treasure”, developed in collaboration with the partner organization umblick.

Strong Partnerships for a Strong Future

Gen blue is well connected in the education sector and collaborates with a wide range of partners. Of particular note is the long-standing cooperation with the Austrian Association for Gas and Water (ÖVGW), which provides the “Water Workshop” – an extensive collection of educational materials for schools. Another highlight is the new short video series featuring the water mascot “Blue”, which entertainingly covers topics such as groundwater, water conservation, and responsible water use – issues that are becoming increasingly relevant due to climate change.
