Water in Austria

Austria, with an average annual precipitation of about 1,100 mm, is one of the most water-rich countries in Europe. Converted, this amounts to approximately 92 km³ of water. This enormous quantity corresponds to roughly twice the volume of Lake Constance! About 50 percent of the drinking water used in Austria comes from groundwater resources and 50 percent from springs.
