Green Chemistry Platform

The government program envisages – in line with the "Green Deal" – embedding sustainability in the chemical industry. To this end, a national program for green chemistry is to be developed. The Ministry of the Environment is launching the work of the "Green Chemistry" platform.
Green Chemistry is a holistic approach that integrates the concept of sustainability into chemical thinking – from the design of new materials to the production, processing, and use of chemicals, as well as waste disposal.
The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management aims to promote Green Chemistry as a comprehensive, integrative solution approach and, in cooperation with the Federal Environment Agency, founded the Green Chemistry Platform on June 24, 2020.
The Green Chemistry Platform consists of experts from various interest groups in science, academia, business, consumer and environmental protection-oriented non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and administration. These experts are intended to support and advance the development and implementation of the goals and objectives of the national work program on green chemistry and to develop technically sound and politically desirable solutions for the chemical sector through discussion.
