I-PEPs: A new KPI set to steer financial portfolio decarbonisation

Currently: Public consultation of the methodology standard open until 10 August 2025

With the development of I-PEPs (Indicators for Portfolio-related Emission Performance), the Green Finance Alliance has introduced a new generation of metrics to support the decarbonisation of financial portfolios. These indicators enable financial companies to steer their GHG emissions trajectory of their core business operations.

This innovative set of indicators covers a wide range of the financial sector, with tailored metrics for:

  • Underwriting portfolios
  • Investment portfolios
  • Lending portfolios

Despite its broad range of application, I-PEPs is based on a uniform methodological foundation, allowing for easy scalability across various portfolio types.

Due to the low number of required input factors, I-PEPs results are less influenced by unintended external factors. The reduced date requirements can help financial companies to lower their personnel and financial burdens, freeing up resources for active portfolio management.
