CAP 2028–2034
The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is of central importance for agriculture and rural areas in Austria. As the current funding period ends in 2027, the European Commission presented proposals in summer 2025 for the future design of the CAP and the EU budget for the years 2028 to 2034.
Comprehensive changes are planned: Several previously separate funding areas - including agricultural policy - are to be combined into a new common EU fund. For the CAP, this means that its current structure will be fundamentally changed, and its implementation will in the future take place through a common national and regional partnership plan (NRPP). The exact details of these reforms are still being negotiated at the EU level. For Austria, it is particularly important that the successful support of agriculture and rural areas continues to be secured in the future, with sufficient financial resources available.
