Organic food production is playing a continuously increasing role all over the world. Austria is a pioneer in this field.
At BIOFACH 2025, the world's largest trade fair for organic food in Nuremberg, the 26th edition of The World of Organic Agriculture was presented, along with the latest available data on organic agriculture from FiBL and IFOAM Organics International. The European and international organic sectors recorded strong growth in both organic farmland and the market.
Organic Figures Europe:
In 2023, more than 19.5 million hectares were managed organically in Europe (European Union: 17.7 million hectares). Within Europe, organic agriculture accounted for 3.9 percent of the agricultural land (European Union: 10.9 percent).
