Law

The content of Austrian radiation protection law is shaped by European influences. Approximately every 15 to 20 years, the European Commission issues comprehensive basic standards directives in the field of radiation protection to ensure uniform standards and protective measures for dealing with ionizing radiation in Europe.

HinweisHinweis

The most recent update was Directive 2013/59/Euratom (EUR-Lex) laying down basic safety standards for protection against the dangers arising from exposure to ionizing radiation. The implementation of the directive into Austrian law provided an opportunity to structure Austrian radiation protection law more systematically and thus make it more understandable.
