Green Finance Alliance - Progress report 2025
The Green Finance Alliance is an internationally unique pioneering initiative that is taking important steps towards a climate-friendly Austrian financial market. Experts guide financial companies step by step in their transition to climate-neutral financial portfolios.
Positive trend in the implementation of criteria continues: In the third reporting year of the Green Finance Alliance, the focus is once again on progress in implementing the criteria as well as engagement and the expansion of green activities. It is encouraging that all members were able to achieve positive results and that more than 80 percent of the criteria were fully met in 2024. Detailed results can be found in the progress report.
Highlights from the 2025 progress report:
- As of the end of 2024, the ten members of the initiative have invested or financed more than 6 billion euros in green projects. These include, among others, green infrastructure projects, sustainable housing construction, and the expansion of renewable energy.
- The comprehensive package of criteria that Green Finance Alliance members must fulfill annually includes much more: among other things, the phase-out of fossil fuels, the expansion of green activities, and the establishment of a climate and engagement strategy.
- Financial institutions must therefore demonstrate how they engage in dialogue with their corporate clients in order to grow sustainably together. Overall, members have significantly improved in meeting these criteria compared to the previous year. More than 80 percent of the criteria were fully met in 2024.
- In addition to fulfilling the criteria, members of the Green Finance Alliance have had around 40 financial products certified with the Ecolabel 49. These primarily include savings and current account products as well as sustainable investment funds.
